I started copying Anita Posch's Orange Pill newsletter to SN every Saturday and forwarding the sats to her. I didn't get a great response and haven't done it the past few weeks. I'll get back to it. Months ago I also got solicited by a few guys alleged to be from Ghana, but it became apparent they were scammers. I think donations is an excellent idea and I am interested to hear your thoughts.
Traffic on weekends seems to be lower. Maybe try a different day or maybe give it a catchy name to grab people's attention. I also find shaming people is an effective strategy. It works in my friend group at least but maybe not for everyone. If I see a worthy cause I want to make people aware of I might forward it and say "I know you are a cheap bastard but this is a really good cause so do me a favour and dig deep this one time".

Good idea. She sends it out on Saturday, so that's why I picked that day. Maybe I'll wait until Monday from now on. What other ideas do you have?

Are you just posting the link or writing a post about it. I apologize for my ignorance but I must have missed these posts from you. I think I do recall clicking on one and responding awhile back that Anita is the best. I am a fan of hers as well.
If you are just posting a link, I think you should do a short write up with it. I think a Siggy endorsement carries a lot of weight on this site. You are well respected here. So if you do a small write up with the link saying you want to highlight what Anita is doing, I think people will be more compelled to click the link.
You can always ask them to zap your post and say you will match the zaps up to a certain level and donate that to Anita.

Here's the situation with Anita. She doesn't have a linkable newsletter, at least that I can find. So, I have to copy the text and then embed the links. It can be pretty time consuming. I do occasionally comment, but maybe I should make it a more uniform post. I do contribute to her Bitcoin For Fairness organization directly separately, and always include a link: https://bffbtc.org/

What are your thoughts on doing a Bitcoin for Fairness Satsraiser on Stacker News? 24 hours and then we forward all sats we collect to Anita's charity. Maybe we can get her to stop in for an AMA during the satsraiser.
@k00b if we coordinate something like above could you keep it as top post for 24 hours? Siggy and I will do the rest.

If people are zapping it a lot, it should stay at the top without needing intervention.

This is true. Could we get it boosted for a couple hours to build the momentum and then let nature take it's course. How long does a promoted post stay at the top?
reply
100k sats appears to stay for at least 12 hours without any additional zaps.
With additional zaps, at least 24 hours I'd guess.
I'm definitely up for that. You got me thinking yesterday about a lot of charity stuff we can do here.

Yeah. The nostr people do a zapathon once a week. I think on Fridays. Where they zap each others memes and posts like crazy. That's fun but what if once a month on SN we can harness that same kind of fun energy (BZE- Big Zap Energy- you should use that in a meme on your socials @k00b) and channel it to something positive for the Bitcoin community. There are tons of great Bitcoin community projects that we can highlight and raise some sats for.
We do Anita's charity first and then crowdsource the next ones.
Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. I still don't know exactly what you this looks like on SN's end, but if we can use existing features available on the site to do what you want, we can begin to understand what needs to be added.
