You're incentivized to engage here. It's like Hacker News except considerably better designed. A front page of bitcoin with a social lightning twist. So go forth and post us some information or ask questions. Everyone here likes learning as much as they do the sound of their own voice.
Hacker news only its not spamming my nostr feed with communist crap that has nothing to do with hacking.

Have you seen any commie shit on HN?
From what I've seen, it's one of the few truly libertarian (not lolbertarian) forums left online that the commies themselves seethe over.

Here's a couple from today https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37168911 Environmentalist propaganda
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37201007 100 pages of text that must reference "growth" over 200 times without ever once defining it outside of how many atoms we are using.
I'll admit today seems pretty light on it, I find the comments are usually far worse. I prefer hackaday for the content, although the comments drive me up the wall, open calls for malthusianism etc.

Why is opening the discussion on the energy consumption "environmentalist propaganda"? Bitcoin will be useless on a dead planet. Grow up.
reply
Don't tell people to grow up when you're scared of the weather.
reply
I'm not, I live in a mild climate region. But tell this to the billions of people living in areas where the weather is becoming a serious hazard by the day. Besides, many of these people are unbanked and impoverished, and as such a great potential demographic for crypto adoption. Get out of your bubble.

Did you lose the thread or do you just prefer meaningless arguments on the internet? First you tell me to grow up, I outline exactly why the article is without merit, and you just change the channel huh?
reply
Get out of my bubble? Y'know, I might not be a climate scientist but I'm pretty good at knowing when I'm being bullshitted to. Why you believe the bollocks spouted by communists and those who want to control everything is beyond me.

One of the commenters outlined it pretty prestinely. Data centers have exceptional power usage efficiency. PUE and water usage is the bottom line at AWS, if there is a leak, we fix it, if cold air isn't going straight to a rack we fix it. We revise temperature set points up and up seeking to not spare a watt of energy the racks don't need for cooling. Processing power is oversubscribed to keep everything running at its limit. There is no comparison with smaller scale solutions which fail at all of these points; and no matter how much of a sovereign individual you think you are, its unlikely your daily life does not depend on internet infrastructure, the last time there was a major issue at amazon it grounded all US flights.
