I think making settings more powerful is something that should be more widespread all over IT projects everywhere. 

I have some browser based applications where this is extremely frustrating. Stakeholders want features, developers get minimum budgets&time-frames and we users just want to make simple settings as defaults and don't get them - really simple stuff like booleans or default sorting and stuff. Like PLEASE I can even code it myself if you let me 😂😂

Same. Seems. Like there was some community split between notifications (which is why @k00b probably made it optional)

I'd be interested in statistics about how many people have which notification settings. Maybe for the Livestream in 1 or 2 weeks ;)

Just noticed that StackerNews now has notification system (with custom settings).
