I'm discovering some tools to organizate my investigation, research and resources about BTC, bitcoin and Nostr. I arrived to some of these tools:
  • Trello
  • Notion
  • Logseq
  • Obsidian
The one I liked the most is Obsidian, for its way to organizate and how you manage all the data. I would like to listen about yours and why you choose them.
Joplin is a good FOSS alternative for notes that I use. It's cross-platform too.

I love Notion for the database feature. I really really want to store semi-structured data without the need for DB meddling. I don't want to store life stuff in a hosted service though and haven't found a comparable easy-self-hostable alternative that has a web-ui for multiple folks to use. Outline is the closest I've found, but doesn't have databases.
I still recommend folks get started with Trello for team-task stuff. Maybe it's grown after Atlassian purchased them? I found it missing many stats I needed to track work though. It's definitely an easy way to get started in Kanban.
Airtable alternatives (Baserow, NocodB) both lock SSO behind the paid plans. And the pay model here seems restrictive.

Up until a few months ago I used Workflowy, for years and years. It's honestly a pretty darn good tool, mostly outlining but with all kinds of other features (linking, tagging, etc).
But recently I transitioned to just plain text files. I use Notepad++, because I'm familiar with it, and it's easy to incorporate folding features (I use square bracket to indicate foldable chunks, you can use what you want). This gives me something similar to outlines.
So far I'm liking it, a lot. I may set up some kind of personal server, so I can access the files on my phone, but it's not necessary now.
I'm trying to get away from ALL online services, so that even if my laptop doesn't have connectivity, it's still a useful tool to me.

I was speaking of SN not personally. Personally, I mostly use Textedit on Mac lol. I went through a trello period for book notes for about a year. I still reference it occasionally.
Back to SN:
We hardly use notion. There was a period where we were using it more, but I prefer using github issues for most of that stuff now.
So it's really just github, slack, and figma at this point. Oh we also use Metabase for more in depth data studies.
There should at most be one place for every type of communication imo.

I use Obsidian. I like organizing my notes as a tree/linear fashion so I mostly use Obsidian in folders and then reference pages as a hyperlink when needed.

Obsidian stores your data in the form of plain text files on your local file system while Logseq by default stores it in the cloud although you can choose to also store it on your system. The bad thing about Obsidian is that you can't sync the data with other devices while Logseq, if you choose the cloud, you can sync with multiple devices. Both have the option to add plugins from developers.
