Billy Bean remembers the first time he met Lenny Dykstra. Mets were facing Steve Carlton. First time facing him for Billy and Lenny. Bean was nervous. Dykstra said I am going to crush his pitch. 

Billy Bean was a better general manager than player.

Excellent points. I know so many people who never challenge themselves for fear of failure. I've done it myself. I like the baseball analogy. The best hitters in baseball fail 2 out of  3 at bats.
