pull down to refresh

Alright last day of NFL pre-pre season week. Very good responses yesterday with your way too early Superbowl picks. We are doing a survivor pool for sats this year so hit myself or @siggy47 up if you want to join. There are only 3 of us committed so far. Would be nice to get some more folks playing.

Shill me your top 5 QBs this season or Free for all- shill me anything NFL related

Have a good weekend. Let the sats rain down upon you.

Cheers, GR

Might I throw my two sats worth in about the Survivor Pool? I think I can speak for @grayruby here when I say that we're not planning a very expensive pool. The first season will probably be about bragging rights more than anything else. So join the fun! More importantly, we all will be helping to realize @grayruby 's vision of a sports sub on SN. I imagine a day when sports fans abandon other forums to support their teams and earn bitcoin right here. It might seem like a long way off, but I'm a dreamer. Hell, I think the Jets will win the Super Bowl.

Here here. Also want to help grow what @k00b and all have built here because it is awesome. So anything we can do to bring attention to it amongst the non bitcoin crowd. Help bitcoin adoption and get SN some traffic it's worth a shot.

You might say Siggy is a dreamer, but he's not the only one!

Trevor Lawrence Joe Burrow Justin Herbert Lamar Jackson Aaron Rogers (wishful thinking & hodler points)

Was trying to edit the last one to add my list but got distracted and ran out of time so I deleted it.

Mahomes Burrow Allen Herbert Hurts (I want to put Lamar here but he has missed too much time the past two seasons)

FINALLY A LIST THAT MAKES SENSE ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

What is with this old man Rogers ? Really heโ€™s better than josh Allen? This isnโ€™t 2015 guys

reply

Haha fair. He did win MVP two years ago so 2015 is a stretch but point taken.

  1. Mahomes
  2. Allen
  3. Jackson
  4. Burrow
  5. Lawrence (crazy!)

Saquon signed his deal I feel bad for him. Clearly a top 3 back but the last three massive RB deals hurt teams. Just imagine at your job you are the top dog but others are paid way more than you. Itโ€™s a crappy feeling. I know these guys make millions but people want to be paid their worth but sometimes the market goes against you and if he gets hurt will further hurt his earning potential good thing he got some of his pay in Bitcoin

reply

I am not sold on Lawrence as a top 5 yet but I think he can get there this season. That being said I chose Herbert in my top 5 and I don't think he has played his best football yet either.

reply

Yeah itโ€™s crazy to think but Peterson really turned that team around in one season. Another season I think Trevor can have a huge year

And Trust me I a semi Trevor hater I just didnโ€™t see the elite talent the media blanketed us with when he was at Clemson

reply

I'd jump in the survivor

Mahomes Burrow Lawrence Hurts Rodgers (homer pick)

reply

Good list. Another one for the pool @siggy47

reply

We're on a roll!

reply

Blasphemy no Allen ???! Da hell

reply

I like Allen ..#6

  • Dalvin Cook going to Jets is actually significant
  • Jalen Ramsey is irrelevant
  • Jaguars are a contender
  • Broncos will win the AFC West
  • Bills are bullshit
  • Bengals are bullshit
  • Browns are being slept on (defense)
  • Trust not the Ravens
  • Anyone can win the NFC South
  • Packers are in a rebuild without having to look like one
  • Tampa beats Minnesota week 1
  • Trey Lance wins comeback player of the year wherever he is
  • Dan Campbell battles Sean Payton for coach of the year
  • Week 1 will be the most costly week 1 in history for Vegas

I am a Lance supporter. Dude has all the talent in the world and I hope in a few years we are talking about him as a top 5 QB in the league but to be comeback player of the year, don't you usually have to have accomplished something before getting hurt and needing to make a comeback?

reply

The leading candidate by odds for the award is Demar Hamlin, for perhaps obvious reasons. But what I've noticed over the years is there's a primacy/recency bias, and it's always a player that surges late in the season out of the group of candidates, and it's usually a QB (has been least 6 years), and someone putting up fantasy points (unfortunately). There's a social buzz around Lance for whatever reason, and if he gets dealt at the trade deadline, he'll be setup to exploit voters and be an exciting season refresh. Truth is I believe the players that will actually deserve the award by season's end will be either Calvin Ridley or Chase Young.

*Note: this is only a bet I'd take because of the astounding +6000 odds and tiny capital allocation of $50 for myself.

reply

Is this a collective bet? excuse my ignorance I don't even want to know what it is, the truth is only I want to participate hahaha :)

reply

Nope.

  1. You pick a team to win each week. Spread does not matter. Just win.
  2. If your team wins, you pick again the following week but you cannot pick the same team twice ever.
  3. If your team loses, you have a chance to get back in. You have to pick a winner somewhat by the spread; the favorite has to cover spread, the underdog has to win outright. If you are successful 6 weeks in a row, you are back in and picking like you did at the start. But you can never pick the same team twice. Also, you can only win the BIG pot if the only remaining people all picked after getting the second chance.

We might make probation rules easier, but this is the basic idea.
