Hi!👋 @Gzuuus here!
I'm studying to develop personal btc nodes, it's a path full of mysteries and many surprises, it's amazing to know this technology from its core. I discovered SN a few days ago, I connect through GetAlby, a delightful experience and I think it can be a good platform to create valueXvalue. I wanted to start here saying hello, Hello! and sharing the different steps and the experience of setting up a btc node in case someone can use it, a kind of diary that I will write as I set up the node and discover the paths of personal sovereignty.
Let's start with one of the most crucial decisions: the hardware. Studying I have come to the conclusion that one of the best platforms to mount your node is a barebone pc better than a rpi4 or sbc due to the fragility of the connections with the storage media (SATAIII vs USB connections in many cases), besides giving you more power with a relatively similar level of consumption between the barebone and the rp4 (~10W).
List of hardware I will use to assemble the node: -Intel NUC BOXNUC7CJYHN2 Intel Celeron J4005 -Crucial SO-DIMM DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 4GB CL17 (x2) -WD Black 2.5" 1TB SATA 3
The case is to make a node as balanced as possible between price and reliability. We could write a lot about the philosophy, responsibility and resilience behind setting up a node, but we'll leave that for another post. ;) Greetings to all! see you around :)
