yeah, no non traditional teams for me either. unless you count rooting for perennially bad teams, in which case those would be the lions and the tigers. it's tough being a detroit sports fan, especially if you don't follow hockey (although the wings aren't really that great anymore from what i understand).
i do kind of root for the cubs and the brewers in the nl, but that's mostly due to my hatred of the white sox and love of beer
Lions are going to win NFC North and Tigers are only 5 games out in the AL central (granted that's probably the worst division in baseball). Things are looking up for you.
I haven't been to Comerica yet. I need to make a trip to Detroit next summer and catch a game.

comerica is an awesome park, i'm actually headed down there next month for a game. i try to get out to at least a couple games each season. but yeah, middle of the pack in the most garbage division in all of baseball isn't exactly something to celebrate.
i am fully drinking the kool-aid on the lions this season though, i agree we're taking the north. i love what campbell and holms have been building, and it was awesome getting to root for hutchinson at michigan and now at the detroit as well

I'm a NY sports fan, but I had a warm place in my heart as a kid for late 60s Tigers. Made a pilgrimage to the Midwest with some buddies to see a game at Tiger Stadium right before it closed. Also caught an Indians game at the Jake that trip.

nice! i'm the only one in my immediate family old enough to have seen a game in both tigers stadium and the silverdome. plus my dad's birthday was 2 days before mine, so we had a tradition of going to a birthday tiger's game every year before he passed

Good memories. I still have a few of these cards, but they're beat up pretty bad. We flipped them. Who knew they would be worth a few SATs some day? https://www.psacard.com/cardfacts/baseball-cards/1967-topps/bengal-belters-norm-cash-al-kaline-216/31193

that's awesome, two legends in my book. i've actually got a game ball signed by most of the '84 tigers, but i'd never sell it

Do you ever go to Lions games?
reply
absolutely, just not as frequently tigers games. i think the last one was 3 or 4 seasons ago, but we're planning on getting one in this season. one of my sisters is a big wolverines fan, so she wants to go see hutch in honolulu blue

I wanted to go to Pittsburgh week 1 to see 49ers play the Steelers but apparently I had no idea how expensive NFL tickets were. I was shocked that I couldn't find a decent seat under $300
reply
yeah i hear you there, mlb games are definitely more affordable than nfl. especially the lions, since we were on hard knocks and now that there's some hype around the team, ticket prices are stupid high
