NFL season is right around the corner and I am looking forward to it. As a 49ers, I expect it to be a promising season which hopefully leads to a deep playoff run and maybe even a Superbowl. Growing up in Toronto Canada, we did not have an NFL team to call our own so I adopted the 49ers as my team after watching the 1989 Superbowl with my dad. Prior to the game he asked me who I was going to cheer for, I arbitrarily chose the 49ers. They won the game and I have been a fan ever since. I also support the Buffalo Bills as they were the closest team geographically to me when I was growing up.
So shill me your story of a non traditional route to fandom of a team you support.
Sats for all unless you are a Cowboys or Seahawks fan. Just kidding.
Cheers, GR
Not really on topic but when I was a child there used to be a Sunday TV show which showed weird sports from around the world; Ironman triathlon, the Escape from Alcatraz, canoe and bike races in isolated areas, backyard ultra-marathons etc and they just got me really fired up. When I was old enough i signed up for as many as I could, and I love participating and supporting other athletes when I get the chance.

That's how you became a fan of trying wild sports like extreme ironing. It makes sense now. Haha

That might explain it…. Or I was dropped on my head as a child!
