Glory Days, we'll they'll pass you buy Glory Days, in the wink of a young girl's eye Glory Days, Glory Days
I enjoyed reliving some of my glory days with yesterday's post and I got the added benefit of being reminded of how much my dad sacrificed to help me have the joyful, and challenging experience of participating in sports. I need to give him a hug and say thanks when I see him later in the week. I hope, in the future that my kids will look back fondly on my dedication and commitment to supporting their extra curricular (and curricular for that matter) activities as well.
Let's make today free for all Sunday.
Shill me anything sports or sports adjacent you would like.
Let the sats fall like rain upon all who reply. Just a light rain though, like a drizzle.
Cheers, GR
Hockey is the ultimate team sport, speed, skill and toughness. All without the me me me. Unfortunately it will always struggle to catch on more because of how expensive it is to play and how difficult it is to gamble.

I would agree with this statement.

Not really my sport but watching Alcaraz give Djokovic a run for his money in the Wimbledon Men’s Final. It’s starting to get a bit spicy…
Le Tour will have to wait!
And Born in the U.S.A is a superb album. Never seen Bruce live…

I might have to turn that match on. My little one really likes tennis. She will probably watch with me for a bit. Thanks for the heads up.
reply
Put it on quick….although the match could last another 2 hours!
reply
I just put it on and my little one said. "you never watch the game during the day". I guess she wasn't interested after all. haha
reply
Haha. Kids!
reply
Satoshi unfortunately didn't figure out kid consensus. Haha, but they are the best.
reply
They are…. Frustrating at times though!

Of course. Aren't all great things?
It’s July NFL training camps starting soon
Love fall sports but then winter comes with it!
Random thought. All this hype around Mike Trout and his team is never competitive!!

Who do you like going into the season?
reply
Buffalo bills of course. The only real threat are the Chiefs. Joey Burrow needs to take a seat
reply
I am feeling good about the Bills this year. They are a more complete team than Chiefs or Bengals. My dream superbowl 49ers vs Bills could be a reality this year.

My favorite sports are both in their off-seasons and the interesting parts of their off-seasons are already over.
If we can get betting working on here, I'm looking forward to betting against the Suns, Clippers, and Pelicans all season, as I'm sure they'll once again be the baseless media favorites.

I've been on the Denver and Miami bandwagons for a long time. I think they'll both be really formidable again.. I also like what the Lakers did in the offseason. I'm very skeptical of the gambles Boston and Golden State made on injury plagued talent.
The wildcard team to me is the Timberwolves. At the moment, they're a mess, but if they can flip KAT for a smart star who fits their roster (Paul George, maybe), they could be really good.
reply
You don't think the Bucks will bounce back?
reply
I think they've got a good shot. I really like their team construction, but they are getting old and injuries might be more of an issue for them.
If the new coach unlocks Giannis, then the sky's the limit for them. There's a world where he utterly dominates on the defensive end, due to being used more creatively, and the Bucks just roll over everyone.
I'm generally pretty skeptical of teams that don't have a guy who can create really efficient offense, and that is something they lack.
reply
I liked your sleeper being the TWolves. They always seem to underperform though.
reply
That's why I don't really believe in them. However, if you look at their roster with KAT swapped for a really good two-way forward/wing, it's very solid.

Should start a Convo on best sports themed songs.
Since you did Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen. I'll mentioned Eddie Vedder - All the Way. Written in 2008 about the Cubs, and made even better after they won in 2016. Makes me think of my grandfather who had passed about a decade prior to the world series, never missed a cubs game, kept score book even watching at home, and how much I wish he could have been around during that.
And for a gag/joke to lighten the mood...if you aren't aware that Scott Stapp (of Creed) wrote a song called Marlins Will Soar...worth a listen for its sheer awfulness.
reply
Good idea. I will use that.
