The interest in starting new businesses in Germany is declining, with a 3% drop in the number of information and consultation sessions at the chambers of industry and commerce in 2022 compared to the previous year. This is the lowest number since the start of counting in 2002, according to the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK). The longer-term trend is also downwards, with fewer people inquiring about starting a business for 13 years, except for 2016 and 2019.
