Its interesting how these stats bubble up every year... and very little changes. No question in my mind that it is only a matter of time until the the US higher education system collapses under its own weight.
Things that cannot be outsourced (externally like electronics to China or internally like agriculture to Mexican illegals) inflate much more than the average: housing, tuition, medicine.
Question to US stackers: How are you handling your student loan(s)?
The typical financial advice you'd hear is to pay off high interest debts ASAP. But in the current political climate, there's a non-zero chance the loans could be written off anyway (or granted some other favorable policy change).
