Like other shitcoins?
All it is is an auth token, preimage and preimage hash.
Yes literally shitcoins (including gov issued ones).
People love shitcoins so many websites will be built to support a generic 402 standard. Then bitcoin wins the currency wars and bitcoin powers the web.
It's going to be easier to convince people they should support 402 if we don't also have to convince them they should use bitcoin.
All it is is a token, preimage and preimage hash.
I understand. It shouldn't be super hard to make generic.

Have you ever seen a generic way to make a payment anywhere on the internet?
reply
I'm not sure what you mean. The nature of the payment itself would be the non-generic part.
reply
Exactly. It's already as generic and compliant with HTTP rules as possible.

Perhaps it’s mostly a marketing and documentation problem that I’m describing then.
reply
Perhaps. I just don't think people care enough about this. Existing paid auth models are way easier and entire ecosystems need to support 402 for it to be meaningful.
It's really a chicken and egg problem honestly.
