I can't say I've seen too much of this in the Bitcoin community myself. If anything there's a libertarian streak which plants itself firmly against violence / coercion, including the military industrial complex that the guest in question was a part of.

I don't think it's a common theme, but of course with a net as large as Bitcoin you're always gonna bag yourself a few crazies.
