I think that this isn't very likely to affect bitcoin because undue pressure from BlackRock would simply force a hard fork, no? Bitcoin and the forked asset don't have any exclusive claims on your ability to use them. The free market will decide which asset is better. With social network protocols the situation is more complex because they're competing for your time and attention.
