Whenever I'm given the chance to improve my privacy online I usually take it.

It wasn't long before I found the privacy settings for SN too.

One of the things there said, 'hide your cowboy hat'.

Why is this?

Is it to prevent people knowing when you're on vacation - or for another reason.

Also, why is there another setting, 'hide from top users' an option too? I consider manybof them to be friendly, good guys!

Why do we have that option too?

BTW just 'uncloaked' myself so that everyone can see my question - and, seemingly a one day hat.

Mighty grateful for your input...

PS @k00b there wasn't an answer to these questions on SN's FAQ (last time I checked anyway)...

@super_testnet asked for this ... Perhaps he didn't want people to think he was worthy of a cowboy hat. As he likes to say of himself, "I'm the most humble guy I know."

@TonyGiorgio asked for this ... because top is kind of a "rich list" suggesting that you might have bitcoin.

Ah... So it's hide myself from being on the top list?

Goddit!

I kinda like hiding the idea of cowboy hat now too. But, there does seem to be a lot of them now... It doesn't seem too elite - but I'll switch back to hatless - it played havoc w Bitman's cowl anyway!

Will miss being able to see where I stacked against those who spent the most. Especially if you are more about giving than receiving. It was like a personal metric to see how well I am doing to create the circular bitcoin economy for content creation

That's good to know, thanks.
I'll keep that setting active so that I can see that too.
