The best option - is to show in practice here and now. Install a newcomer LN purse, send him a few sats and let him top up his phone number, for example. The main thing is to show how easy and fast it is, without KYC, etc. And then everything else.

I would say buy first however I’m not sure if I’m a great at orange pilling.

depends on the person.
they will always tear the conversation into the direction they want. if you try to explain the tech, and the person is like "ok but its not backed by anything", then you are forced to get into economics.
however, these days it seems to me everyone has already an opinion on it, so really it's much more about deprogramming erroneous conceptions.
what i never do is recommend austrian economics for dummies books.
can't wait for the next bullrun and have people contact me, for me to explain in detail why and how and not to touch shit just for them to ignore everything i said and go ballsdeep into a shitcoin and get rekt.. yawn

I used to start with explaining blockchain, but most people get dizzy real fast. I think sending a few sats over lightning as a demonstration can pique curiosity, then go from there based on the person's interests. If he has a tech background blockchain is actually fairly straightforward, you at least don't need to explain what public key cryptography and hashes are. If not, economics is a good approach. Most people don't know much about the topic but you can take angles they can relate to - currency the government can't inflate or easily confiscate, etc.

LOL are you fucking serious?!

You mean a shitcoiner ? OMG no wonder people end up using shitcoins, if "educators" like you start with "blockchain technology"...

Dude.. wtf are you trying to get at? Seriously, I'm slightly annoyed but I'm mostly just curious...
Bitcoin runs on a blockchain, does it not? If I do an on-chain transaction, the chain being referred to is a blockchain? Did I miss something here?
Or is this just some hazing ritual for the new guy? That's fine too.
reply
Bitcoin is using a timechain :P "Blockchain technology" means shitcoinery.
