You can use a burner number. It's for spam mitigation.
Contacts are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded.
The thing doesn't work unless there is a social graph.

“Encrypted before they are uploaded” what does that even mean, they still have access to the data on the other end. So it’s basically the same as using standard https

HTTPS is transport encryption. Vexl encrypts the data before sending over the network.
Kind of like encrypting a mail before sending it.
