Vitalik said in an interview that it is enough decentralization if only 1% of users keep all the data. According to him if the Ethereum Blockchain makes 48TB of Data per year it would mean that anyone with 100 Us Dollars per month can buy one 4TB hard drive per month. That would still be more decentralization than our banking system.
I obviously do not agree with this. In Bitcoin anyone can save the whole blockchain. The 1 TB might even fit on an old laptop that flies around in your closet somewhere. And lightning scales Bitcoin while letting anyone be their own bank - anyone can earn sats from routing fees.

Btw, if I wanted a centralized system that benefits the wealthy (proof of stake) I'd choose the US Dollar or the Euro.
