There's aggresive spam filters and report-based shadow banning going on in the main Amethyst app. Some effort over the last few days as people try to express why this is bad and I've even submitted a PR attempting to remove the concerns. However, it has not budged the developer to remove it so this community fork that will keep up to date with the restrictions removed was born.
Yeah, I think it would also work really well with a single mobile app keeping the keys and the rest "requesting" access from that main keyholder app. Not sure, need to look into it more.
It's good to see open source working. To be fair to Vitor, he said these moderation mechanisms are a response to user feedback. Perhaps Amethyst will see this become a configuration.
A relay operator or a client developer could try to censor posts/users. But it's so easy to use switch client/relays, that censorship is at best a futile effort.
Glad there's finally an option to disable the "spam" filters in the base app now.
The suggestion from others and Vitor himself to keep Onyx around as a testing app for new NIP's and other features is a good one though, and I wonder if that'll be your plan going forward.
Yeah I'm opened to it but it definitely won't be something I'll personally be spending a lot of time on. And won't be the main purpose of the app that others felt passionate about installing it in the first place.

Thanks for stepping up and creating this fork!
There's no way to actually log into it though, right?
Unless you give the app your private key?
Am not aware of any (functional) signing devices on android
Correct. And not yet.
Nsecbunker sounds v promising

same for normal amethyst
yeah, same for all android, been searching for a solution but not found one yet.
Fair play though to @tonyGiorgio for a successful fork of a successful project!
you have to put your private key somewhere, in apps is generally fine. People are only concerned about websites because of XSS attacks
Awesome!

That would make sense -- a friendly mode and a wild-west mode.
I thought nostr was about no censorship.

amethyst built censorship into the app
