Just a Miners reminder: Stranded or wasted energy like "methane" from gas flaring can be captured used to generate electricity that can be used for mining. Since the distance from gas flaring plants further away from towns and cities, I suggest that miners should set up their mining farms close to these locations to minimize the cost of energy used for Bitcoin mining.
Remember energy is a big part of mining.
Just bought some tickets for the Brewers vs Blue Jays next Tuesday in Toronto. Not sure why, because the Jays suck right now, but a ball game is always fun and the kiddos haven't been to the city since we moved out of city full time a year and a half ago.
Back in Texas in September if any Dallas/FW bitcoiners want to catch a Rangers game.
What life / work path led you to Texas? What was work/visa situation like? I'm in Toronto and it's brutal, and would very much like to move more permanently to Texas or the Carolinas or something
My wife's family lives in Texas so we spend a couple months of the year there. I used to own a business in Toronto but sold it in Jan 22. We now live a couple hours from Toronto. I work contract jobs when I can get one that suits me. My wife works part time a couple days a week, when travelling she just gets her friend to pick up her shifts.
Both my kids are homeschooled right now, so we have a lot of flexibility to travel if we want to. At some point we will purchase a property in US and spend more time there but this is convenient for now.
So i have this idea where SN gets a new sub called "warmane" its a bit of a master plan, but since i play on and off on that server which is a wow private server i would like to start sharing memes and experiences and so on related to the server. ive been unsuccesully trying to get them to adopt Bitcoin payment option since in my opinion its a no brainer. They are already operating in a gray area and they use BitTorrent to distribute the client. And their audience is international. You have russians, ukranians, chinese, US, EU, balkan, etc. playing on the server and its full every night. Over 12,000 people online. Anyway im rambling now. Looking forward to potential user created subs as they can create a backdoor for bitcoin adoption as i share links to stacker.news on for example warmane discord. It will not be spam, it will be legitimate linking to stuff, but im not on reddit or twitter much anymore. So thats all. User created subs can accelerate SN growth and BTC growth imo if thats interesting to anyone.
Pay 2 win is a common criticism on warmane but its actually "pay to catch up" since the server has been around for about 10 years. And if you want to pay to catch up, thats on you, other people play the game for getting the stuff "legitimately" in any case it doesent hurt anyone if someone buys some gear instead of farming it for lack of a better term imo. Warmane has struck a nice balance. And also the server is free for everyone except they get into a queue when it reaches 12,000 players online, premium member do not afaik so thats another plus with their model you can argue.
Worked on improving my multisig setup yesterday but decided to do it after getting some sleep before doing something wrong.
Then I dreamed that somehow, there were unconfirmed tx leaving my multisig setup and that I don't know how to bump fees and reverse the txs using Sparrow Wallet. I felt rising dread that I won't be able to stop this and lose most of my bitcoins. But then I noticed after a while that this isn't real. There was a progress bar regarding the unconfirmed tx which is not how bitcoin works.
So I decided to go to sleep in my dream and my friend who was with me thought I was going crazy to just accept that my bitcoins are gone and go to sleep lmao
But turns out it was really just a dream :) An unpleasant one, but just a dream.
Btw, would bumping fees even help? The attacker has nothing to lose, if they are quick to react, they would just bump the fees again.
Been depressed AF lately... My life just seems completely pointless tbh and I never have anything to look forward to anymore to get me through each day. Sigh...
Sorry, just saying that publicly makes me feel better. Mental illness fucking sucks, guys..
If you have a high news or social media diet, cut it back dramatically. It helps a lot for mood and just general worldview. Most of the problems on Twitter and in the news are not real problems that interfere with the average person's day to day life.
Keeping a notebook and writing down one good thing in it every morning helps a lot, too. Maybe something that went well for you the previous day, or something you're grateful for.
I know it's no fix for mental illness of a more "internal chemical imbalance" type, but every little bit helps.
Sorry to hear that, I know what it feels (or doesn't feel) like.
Feel free to ignore my advice but doing the following helped me get out of a bad place:
How do you interact with natural light?
Do you wake up and watch the sunrise? If not, try that. Look right into the sun (or otherwise the clouds) and around
Do you spend too many hours looking at screens? Try to reduce that and if not possible, use the night shift or similar function to turn the tint more orange. You can use a red light at night time
During the day do you look at enough green foliage? Try to do some grounding or work out barefoot in some park
Do you get enough UV from the sun on your skin at around noon? At least 15 minutes
I would force myself to do all this no matter how I feel, could try for a month; discipline is crucial.
The pendulum swings both ways. You'll be on the upswing soon :)
Something I realized this year is that I take on a lot of other peoples problems. I've tried to meditate on it and really define what I actually have control over in my own life. Our choices are half chance. It's a miracle to have gotten this far.
It can't be all bad, right. What's something you're thankful for?
I know it doesn't provide much comfort, but hang in there. A very close family member of mine has been suffering for the past few years, and it can be overwhelming. This person also finds that talking about it publicly helps. You're not alone.
Appreciate the kind words, and tell your family member to hang in there as well... Even when it gets to the point where it seems like not existing anymore is the best option, you gotta be strong and fight.
