Shall we have a "general" sub for other type of content?
reply
I think @k00b mentioned elsewhere that he's working on a UI change to enable (or require?) us to select a specific sub to post to.
Having a "general" at that point sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe even make it the default... :)

I wonder if there's a sats4coffee machine somewhere... that would be cool

Enjoying a morning coffee, chilling on my deck with my dog and as I type this I see the morning has flown by and it is now afternoon. Through the sliding screen door I can hear my little one playing the harmonica her mom bought her yesterday. Time to go inside and jam? Yeah it is!

I moved some lightning BTC couple days ago and wanted to start using a self-custodian wallet so I decided to use Phoenix but I had some pretty major issues.
I started by sending a few test sats and it worked great. I then sent about $500 USD of sats to the wallet and the Phoenix wallet said it went through (although it cost about $5 usd). After a few hours I noticed that the sats weren't showing up on the main page of the app. About 2 days later and now the sats are showing up correctly and I can see a new channel that was opened with a capacity high enough for the transaction.
So questions for yall:
  • Any idea why the transaction took so long to actually show up?
  • It's concerning that Phoenix said that the transaction was finished yet I couldn't spend those sats; and the sats seemed to be in limbo for a few days. Should I look at an alternative to Phoenix?
reply
Did you use lightning or onchain?
reply
Lightning. Although it seems that Phoenix might have opened a channel for me, which sounds like it might require an on-chain tx?

I've been spending the last month and a half floating around on nostr in a haze of bitcoin memes, contemplative thoughts of endless notes from others and anon social engagement with a positive user base I haven't witnessed online in maybe ever. All integrated with the LN and sending more sats around than I have before.
I don't even know who I am anymore. Also in the beginnings of trying to set up a second node.

Just completed Building a react based interface to talk to my lightning node, wondering what to do next.

Ha ha run, work, baseball game, and maybe a "date" night with my wife.
reply
Which baseball game are you attending?
reply
Milwaukee Brewers. They got crushed by the Dodgers

That's a nice stadium. I haven't been to that one yet but I would like to check it out. Central division is wide open. Brewers have a pretty good team.

Well, today I'm going to see another Monty Python movie 😅

Out of it. You can do this. Be well my friend and stay frosty!!

I think historians is going to look back at the 2020's as the lost decade.

I think it goes back to 1971. The fake money era

Good morning bitcoiners and internet! I've been trying to consume all the podcasts about nostr, which at this point in time one could still accomplish. Funny enough I don't use nostr yet, but I find myself fascinated and excited by it.
reply
Time to jump in.
reply
Why now? none of the clients or relays have impressed me yet
reply
And yet you're fascinated and excited?
reply
Yes. We need more open communication protocols. I imagine things will improve with time. Right now we have a problem with redundant development effort. Eventually better teams will form. I find it important that no one owns or controls nostr. As long as it remains open I remain hopeful that one day it may become useful. I can imagine may applications for nostr, which could unleash tremendous utility to users. I believe deeply in the capacity for the telecommunciation and computers to tremendously increase the wealth of anyone who can use them.
