The fact that they can’t answer this question, nor are they willing to say “proof of stake” on the homepage, says it all. Nefarious.

I think a big issue is that people don't have a good sense of how humanity creates and uses energy. I know that I don't have a good sense... I think this is something we will need to address first.
Currently people get really easily tricked by "X uses more energy than country Y", but while that may be true, I don't think most people actually realize how meaningless statement that is in relationship to how much energy US, China and Russia consume.

Indeed! You can't have an increase in human flourishing without an increase in energy production and consumption. We simply cannot advance as a civilization without utilizing more and more energy. For some fun learning, check out the Kardeshev scale, and relevant Kurzgesagt video.

This is really cool to see how hard they be hating.
And it's also cool to see in practice how an adversary would attack a decentralized blockchain on the social rather than cryptographic side. They've done their analysis, come up with slogans and talking points, identified the key players in the bitcoin ecosystem. Now they'll try push different media campaigns and triangulations via regulation. Could even get kinetic here or there.
I think the most effective action is to say about changing the code is:

"We know a basic software code change could reduce Bitcoin’s energy use by 99.9%. If only 30 people — the key miners, exchanges, and core developers who build and contribute to Bitcoin’s code — agreed to reinvent proof-of-work mining or move to a low-energy protocol, Bitcoin would stop polluting the planet. So why isn’t Bitcoin changing its code?"
This says it all. The people who created this site and organization don't understand Bitcoin. They obviously don't know anything about the Blocksize war either. If only 30 people were needed to be convinced to change the consensus method of the entire network, Bitcoin wouldn't be decentralized.
