For those unfamiliar, Mirror.xyz is a blogging platform that has no paywalls but gives readers the option to mint your post as an NFT if they want to tip you.
As a platform I love it, but it runs on an Ethereum L2 and I've been returning to BTC only. I have many, many, many issues with Ethereum, both practical and ethical.
Although I only keep dust in my ETH wallet now, obviously I'd rather use a Bitcoin native platform than an Ethereum native one.
I did find one project like this but it's built around paywalls. As the top comment here says, V4V is much better. I write content like introductions to new tech and privacy and security tutorials. I want that to be open to the world. I also want readers to have the option to tip me if they want to show support for my work.
This seems like an obvious use case for Lightning, especially given its ubiquity on Nostr, but aside from the paywall project above I couldn't find anything else when looking up Bitcoin Lightning blogging services.
Self-hosting is preferred of course. So a plugin for another blogging platform that adds zaps is good too as long as it's not WordPress.
Open to suggestions.
Thank you in advance everyone.

I like the idea of a blogging platform built on Nostr, but I'd rather have an individual blog than have my posts mixed up with others. I do see that you get your own profile page under your public key, but hitting the homepage brings you to a feed of all posts on the site.
Basically I just want a personal blog rather than a Medium type thing.
Unless that platform or a similar one is self-hostable so I can configure it to only show posts from my own pubkey?
reply
Yeah, it would be cool to have some cms+relay that I can connect to with my nostr key and publish only long form posts there so that no one needs to have a nostr app to read them but they can do it if they want to.

Doesn't even have to be Nostr connected really. I just want a blogging platform, whether it's a CMS or static generator or some kind of hybrid, with Lightning support.
Maybe I can just use a regular old static site generator and embed a QR code for Lightning in the CSS or something. I won't know exactly which post I got the zaps from, and it won't keep count per post, but it'll do the job for now if no better options currently exist.

I'm - very inconsistently - working on a Hugo theme with Lightning tips inside. The goal is to have a static website generator that non technical people can use to easily have a Lightning-enabled blog. The issue is that Hugo itself might be a bit rebutting for really non-technical users.
The idea is that a user should be able to accept Lightning tips simply by filling the website YAML configuration file (for example with a Lighting Address, a Tippin account, a BTCServer endpoint) and/or page-level params (this for example allows to have a direct LN Address for each article).
Is it something like that that you had in mind when you mentioned static generators?

Very cool. Do you have a repo to share?

Yes that's exactly what I had in mind wrt static site generators. Would be very interested in that. I'm very comfortable in the terminal. Running Linux as I type this.

It doesn't but nostr network effect is gonna be very powerful. I'm guessing if you want to have a blog you want people to read it. Imagine you posting on your blog but the post and all the comment also appear in nostr app timeline so that everyone on the network can interact and find out about you.
