I’d start by defining rich and defining successful.

Depends on how you define each. I know plenty of people who never made much money, never really moved up the ranks in their job, and barely made enough to retire in comfort. But they are wildly successful because they have a family that loves them and watches out for them and many friends who's respect they have earned.

Figure out what success looks like to you and chase it.
