Hi guys,
I'm searching for the actual block that has the transaction of 10,000 BTC for the 2 large pizzas.
Based on the timing and amount posted here I've narrowed it down to these ones
Of course the first one (timewise) would probably be it, but it might be just an internal transfer between wallets before it actually being sent to jercos, who then probably also moved the 10k BTC around afterwards.
Anything obvious that I'm missing to determine without a doubt the actual block in which the iconic pizza transaction occurred? Thanks!
In the end it all points to block 57043
It makes sense based on everything I'm seeing, plus external sources seem to confirm it:
Also worth noting Block 170(Satoshi Nakamoto to Hal Finney 10BTC test):
Block 170 is the first payment from one person to another and was a gift, not a purchase.
Also, for the people saying he made a mistake spending 10k BTC for pizza, you can see that it was clearly not his last 10k as that address received more than 80k BTC over time... 😄

If you run your own node and run BTC explorer. BTC explorer has "Historical links" and you can go straight to a lot of historical blocks instantly.

That's helpful, but I wanted to track it down myself

The next pizza day celebration should be on Block 798,602, that will be the fourteenth anniversary of the pizza block: 14 * 57,043
