They used to have a broker where they would match buyers with sellers, and vice-versa:

But I think that broker is defunct now. Not sure if HodlHodl still does matchmaking like that anymore.

Thanks for clearing that up, I was googling and checking the site but couldn't find mention of it lol 2018 is a long time ago in bitcoin terms

There's also the loose use of the term OTC brokerages. As in, "we sell bitcoin over the counter". That's not the same thing as an OTC trading desk, but makes use of the same label. So someone might say traders sell over the counter through HodlHodl. (I wouldn't, but I've seen their trading described as over the counter trading).

Every single trade on HodlHodl is OTC trade IMO.
