A newcomer (and tradoor/shitcoiner) to a local BTC meetup once was surprised that the establishment accepted BTC.
He was skeptical I could pay with it. "Really? you used BTC to buy that beer? Ok how about I slip you 10$ cash and you buy my next beer in front of me?" The way he said it was like he thought I was lying and was calling my bluff.
Got his beer, paid in lightning instantly. Waitress walks away. "Why didn't she wait for 6 confirmations haha"
Yup, LN is still arcane to most, even some non-normies who are in the "crypto" sphere or are still on the edges of BTC maximalism or at least truly understanding all that the BTC ecosystem is right now.
The folks in 'cryptocurrency' deny lightning exists or have never even heard of it (noone 'told them' about it).
And the 'normies'... Don't know you can buy things with bitcoin, don't understand why it has value, don't know you can 'transact' in it much exactly how you do that. Much less opening a channel etc. We are a long, long way off.
yup.
To all "deniers" show them this list of videos with paying IRL using LN

None of my normie friends have ever even heard of lighting - its all so tiring to be honest.
