I find the concept of a public/private key pair easy to understand and relate to. In that respect, Nostr works very similarly to Bitcoin.
I agree that leaking the private key can lead to problems. I don’t know if DIDs can solve that. I still don’t even know what DIDs are. I try to read the W3C document, but there is just a lot of technobabble that I feel unable to understand. But I do understand the concept behind private/public key pairs.
The DID proponents cannot expect people to accept and use something that they cannot comprehend. The whole thing feels like they are trying to push some top-down solution, even if that’s not their intention. They should do a better job at explaining themselves. If they cannot explain their scheme in plain language in a few pages, then I am afraid it won’t take off, no matter how “good” their idea is. Satoshi explained Bitcoin in less than ten pages.

Been saying these things for quite awhile now myself. Very few people are willing to throw their ego aside and look at how both DID + nostr could be great together.
