Currently you can forward sats to up to 5 other stackers when someone zaps your post correct?
Nice feature used lots by Scoresby (very generous of him) but what if you could also forward to any Ln address?
Also when the recipient receives the sats, they get a small message alongside the payment something like:
"You received 222 sats from @Scoresby on Stacker News / stacker.news"
Why I think this would be cool:
- Lets you reward peeps on Nostr who aren't on SN yet
- The sats become an onboarding tool, they see sats, they come take a look 👀
- Just a "hey this place exists and it paid you in sats"
- Could drive organic growth from the broader Nostr/Xitter sphere

You could still use the work around, but you would have to attach their lightning address as a receiving wallet to the account you set up for them, which starts to be kind of annoying.
I like the idea though. Maybe it could be as simple as being able to select any lightning address to forward sats to.
Yes i did think that after, they or I wouldn't need to set up a wallet, just add the Ln address for recieve and I guess any cc's would accumulate in their profile, which is the messy part, as they'd have to change the login methods or abandon the nym altogether and spin up their own
Supposedly Facebook and the like make profiles for people who don't have accounts but are mentioned on the platform.
I wonder if Stacker News could do something like that: i.e. you can forward sats to any npub and SN will generate a profile for that nym if there isn't already one associated with it. Then, if they ever try to create a SN profile with that npub, those sats will be here waiting for them.
I have no idea if that's technologically possible. It would create some incentive to check out Stacker News and get your sats.

I think it could be a good idea but it could also backfire. Say you forward someone 10% and the post gets a 21 sat zap. Someones LNurl gets an annoying 2 sat zap. Like on the Club Orange app people are zapping 1 sat as a form of advertising. It's kinda annoying

Worth knowin the plumbing here. When you zap a npub on Nostr, the relay resolves their kind-0 profile, pulls the lud16 lightning address, hits the LNURL-p callback for an invoice, pays it, and posts a kind-9735 receipt. That whole dance is NIP-57.
SN's forward-zap is custodial, it just splits CCs inside the SN ledger, no external hop. To do what you want SN would need to run a LNURL-p resolver per outgoing zap, pay from the sender's wallet (not CC), and probably emit a nostr receipt so the recipient even knows who paid.
Not impossible, but it's the Nostr zap flow bolted on. Wonder if SN devs have a reason they went CC-only?
