The fact that there will be no peace agreement between the USA and Iran was understood from the statement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the day the USA announced a two-week cessation of hostilities with Iran.

Immediately after the announcement of the ceasefire by American President Donald Trump, Israel exploited this space to concentrate its air power over Lebanon, killing about 300 Lebanese civilians in a series of attacks that lasted only 10 minutes following a wave of bombings across the country, while Lebanon was also part of the USA-Iran agreement.

As in the Gaza Strip, where the so-called ceasefire was also used as an opportunity, Israel benefited from a pause in fighting while preparing to attack Iran together with the USA. Israel is currently waging a war it considers existential to realize the project of 'Greater Israel,' a regional conflict that is not expected to end until this project is consolidated.

This means that even if ceasefire agreements are reached with Iran or Lebanon, they do not represent the end of the war, but simply an opportunity for reorganization and a new escalation in the future.

Ceasefires don't change that reality.

I get the argument, but it feels like there are a lot of assumptions about intent here. Hard to separate strategy from speculation.
