'An interview https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/2/21/absurd-and-provocative-huckabee-faces-firestorm-for-israel-border-stance by the American right-wing podcaster Tucker Carlson with US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee started the current furore. Carlson, an influential figure who has been vocally critical of Israel over the past year, repeatedly asked Huckabee whether he supported Israel controlling all the land between the Nile River in Egypt and the Euphrates River in Iraq.

Huckabee, a https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/2/23/what-is-christian-zionism-us-envoy-beliefs-about-israels-mena-expansion, would not disavow the belief that the Bible promised that land to Israel – even though it now encompasses all or part of Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

“It would be fine if they took it all,” Huckabee said, leading to anger from those countries and others in the region, many of which are close US allies.

Then, speaking on Monday, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said that he would support “anything that will allow the Jews a large, broad, strong land and a safe haven for us”.

“Zionism is based on the Bible. Our mandate over the land of Israel is biblical, [and] the biblical borders of the land of Israel are clear … Therefore, the borders are the borders of the Bible,” the apparently secular Israeli politician said.'

Let's see how long this is up, until it's downzapped to oblivion.

I don't know what the solution to the downzap problem is but we definitely don't have it yet. At this point almost all posts that are anti Iran war or anti Zionist are downzapped completely off the main feed, without any discussion or commentary.

Everybody - I encourage you to regularly check these links, which show the most downzapped posts. You should know what you're being prevented from seeing.

Have asked @denlillaapan if it is him.

Asked if he would post his recent SN wallet spending graph to prove it is not him and offering 10,000 sats for his trouble.

The downzapper has their TOP stats concealed and so does @denlillaapan- he is by far the highest earning content provider to conceal his SNs TOP stats.
He has also posted disparagingly about war posts.

He initially did not respond but after several comments asking the same question and getting others claiming I was harassing him he responded by claiming is not him but ignoring the request for showing his recent SN wallet spending graph.

Whoever the downzapper is they are not prepared to stand up for and admit their actions and the reasoning behind them.
They are determined and deceitful.

20% of stackers support the war.

Stacker News staff seem unperturbed by the effective censorship of posts questioning the war.

There appears to be no way to verify who the downzapper is without access to internal SN data as the downzapper chooses to conceal their TOP data and SNs devs have shown no enthusiasm or will to do anything about it, at least in response to requests from me which have mostly gone unanswered, if not responded with personal attacks and trolling primarily from @Scoresby, but I bet 10,000 sats it is @denlillaapan.

I asked three times of @Scoresby-
'Is downzapping 300000+ sats to silence dialogue and discussion of The Greater Israel Project and other war related posts while concealing your identity behaviour that you endorse and encourage here on Stacker News?'

He three times refused to answer instead continually attacking me for even raising the issue and claiming that my asking to see a stackers SN spending wallet graph was unreasonable as it could lead to doxxing. He knows very well this is apologist nonsense as only a stacker who has chosen to conceal their SN wallet TOP data does not already share this data.

SNs is actively enabling Zionist censorship.

It doesn't matter who it is. That's irrelevant and leads us down the wrong path.

What is relevant is that Stacker News downzapping can't work this way. I'm not going to stay long-term on a platform on which it is absolutely trivial to completely censor a post - no discussion, no nothing - so that nobody can see it, because they disagree with the politics.

I'm not sure what the answer is. But the fact is that now, with enough sats, you can downzap anything to completely disappear it.

I know there's a lot of game theory here, that I may have not thought about. But this at least needs to be discussed.

Unpacking Israel’s stance ahead of new Lebanon talksUnpacking Israel’s stance ahead of new Lebanon talks

By Nour Odeh

Reporting from near Ramallah, occupied West Bank

The US State Department has confirmed that Israel and Lebanon will be holding a second round of talks in Washington, DC on Thursday.

The Israeli government is not saying a lot about this effort because, ultimately, this is not a process that Israel had chosen or gone to willingly.

There is the view that this was basically something imposed by the US president, much like the ceasefire which was also announced by Donald Trump.

Israel has maximalist demands, it continues to occupy Lebanese territory and has declared a so-called Yellow Line, much like in Gaza, where it is methodically demolishing entire Lebanese villages.

That so-called Yellow also extends to a Lebanese oil and gas field as well – all of that is going to be used as leverage, according to previous statements, in any possible negotiations with the Lebanese government which Israel views as weak but is willing to push it to use force to disarm Hezbollah.

That is the central Israeli demand, even if that costs Lebanon civil cohesion; that doesn’t really factor into the Israeli calculus because the main point is the occupation will continue, this demolition will persist, until and unless Israeli demands are met.

While biblical history is a powerful part of many people’s identity, the beauty of the modern world is our ability to evolve.

Most people today, regardless of their background, just want a safe place to raise their families.

Agree at the individual level.

But zoom out, this is starting to get priced differently at the geopolitical level.

Heard “evangelical Christianity” come up in an energy/war-risk discussion, not a cultural one.

That shift is worth paying attention to:

Unfortunately with the US ambassador supporting the Greater Israel project a lot of people living in countries that are targets for Israeli expansion can feel little safety or security.
The US backing Israel in its expansionary ambitions leaves millions of people with good reason to feel unsafe.

'Huckabee’s support for Greater Israel was roundly condemned by more than a dozen states, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkiye.

For Arab and Muslim states, the anger at the comments partially emanates from the sense of a lack of respect towards the sovereignty of regional states by a US official. But it also highlights fears that the balance of power in the region is weighted towards an Israel that is increasingly willing to attack across the Middle East, and has little interest in peace.

Even if the takeover of the land between the Nile and the Euphrates is not feasible, a region where Israel is the primary hegemon will likely lead to more attacks, more wars, and, if Israel determines it necessary, more occupation of land.'

There’s a deeper tension here.

If you believe Yeshua HaMaschiach is the fulfillment of Jewish prophecy, then the idea that state power must help bring prophecy to pass should raise serious questions.

Because once territorial expansion gets framed in explicitly biblical terms, it doesn’t stay in the realm of belief.

It gets read as:
policy being shaped by religious frameworks.

And once that happens, other countries don’t debate the doctrine.

They react to it.
