On March 30th, the Selective Service System (SSS) sent the White House its proposed regulations for “automatic” [sic] draft registration for review and approval before they are made public. This is the first visible step in the transition from trying to get young men to sign themselves up for a military draft, to trying to sign them up “automatically” by aggregating data requisitioned from other Federal agencies.
There apparently is a waiver for any present or future members of the Trump family.
I remember when I applied for federal financial aid for college, as a male, I had to sign up for selective services to be eligible.
Thank god we don't have this in New Zealand.

Maybe although we have not had the draft since Vietnam and we have no formal military alliance with US since we refused to allow US nuclear ships into our ports in the 1980s.
Even though we still remain in 5 eyes...we were removed from ANZUS which was the former military alliance between US, AUS and NZ for our 1980s anti-nuclear stance.
It ultimately depends on the government have- the one we have now is pretty subservient to the US military industrial war machine but our opposition is less so, and they are likely to win this years election.
To most countries being militarily aligned with the US looks increasingly unattractive.
It will be interesting to see if the Gulf States stick with US petrodollar-military subservience now after Trump caused them such unwanted damage.
Like most countries much more of our trade these days is with China- the biggest market by far for our primary produce exports. USA never gave us a FTA- we have had one with China since the early 2000s- in fact were the first western country to get one.
How did Trump cause damage to the gulf states?? The US and Israel attacked Iran alone and for some reason the IRGC spastics thought that was reason enough to launch thousands of drones and missles at 5 other countries that had nothing to do with it. They killed 11 civilians. At that rate we can expect them to kill about 70 gulf state civilians for every 100 US soldiers. For what?? I really doubt attacking neutral countries helps the IRGC's case. They weren't militarily involved. The IRGC made the call to attack them anyway. And then you want to get on your moral high horse about the US talking about potentially attacking Iranian civilians when the IRGC already did it to countries that weren't even attacking it.
Trumps invasion has caused the Gulf States huge economic losses.
He failed to inform them of the invasion and dragged them into it.
As a supposed security partner to them he showed no regard for their sovereignty and security.
Many will be now considering alternative security arrangements as are many other countries formerly aligned with the USA.
Pakistan also risks being dragged into this conflict with its mutual support treaty with Saudis.
The risk of wider escalation is real and terrifying if Trump continues to perpetrate war crimes on behalf of Israel.
There is less than 30% support for this war in the US and falling rapidly because it is criminal and insane to continue - there is much lower support globally.
Trump has shown the USA is a puppet and bully owned by Zionist Zealots.
Nobody wants to be aligned to such a toxic and corrupt USA...except the Zionists who own the USA and use it to further their insane Greater Israel Project.

Let me get this straight. If the US, hypothetically, initiates a surprise attack on Beijing, and the PRC responds by launching missles at Taipei, then somehow it's our fault that Taiwan got attacked?
The US didn't drag the gulf states into it. They weren't involved until the IRGC made a choice to attack them. Informing them of the plan wouldn't have changed the IRGC's decision. And it also wouldn't have stopped you from claiming that somehow it's our fault that the IRGC attacked them.
None of the economic consequences are comparable in any way to getting attacked with missles and drones.

This seems like a nothing story to me. First off, not registering is apparently a felony and I know a guy that was a police officer and he told me they had a guy apply to become a cop and hadn't registered. As soon as he applied a warrant was automatically issued for his arrest.
Making it automatic seems obvious to me. The real issue is the way humans are treated like they are cattle and the property of the state. This change seems more like an efficiency modification.
