Will you quit if blocks are full of spam and nothing else? Or if blocks are empty five years from now? What about if one miner has 70% of hash power?
As much as we may want it to succeed, there's no guarantee that this particular collection of things that Satoshi put together will be indestructible.
What's the line at which you give up?
I was listening to Casey Rodarmor on the most recent Hell Money episode. The episode was about the oridnals bip getting rejected, and the cohost kept pushing him to say when he would "just walkaway" from Bitcoin. His answer was something like: maybe if it got to $18 dollars a coin, but by then it wouldn't be worth selling, so I'd probably stick with it...I'm going down with this ship.
I suspect there's a pretty sizeable core of Bitcoiners willing to go down with the ship, for whom the answer is "there is nothing that will make me give up."

If the chain is forked to increase the supply beyond 21 million, then I will not buy that fork. My buy-in forces the network to adhere to all of the technical requirements of fulfilling my demands. If for some reason Bitcoin fails to meet those monetary demands, then I die with it, because I'm not willing to work for anything else.
As long as it is decentralized and secure, I'm in.
I will stop using Bitcoin when the dead walk the earth, and if I can still generate a TXID in that catastrophic future, then I can say that not even zombies will stop my use of Bitcoin.
In my opinion, there is no other tool that does the job that Bitcoin does. Bitcoin is a technology destined to prevail. Free-thinking people are in the majority, and as long as we exist, Bitcoin will retain its value and continue to function.
It would hurt but if it's not being used or has become completely centralized then it would mean most bitcoiners gave up on it. I plan to go down with the ship, but the knowledge I've learned from Bitcoin should help with whatever the future brings.
Price keeps doing its downward thing is a deathknell, yes.
After leaving a laptop in 2011-2012 with an amount of BTC I don't want to say as I'm too embarrassed to get thrown out as I was lazy to go get it. Having electrum wallets telling me I needed to update and when I did all my btc went to a 3859:37163:**** address. Writing 16 hour none selling udemy courses on crypto. The world would have to end.
