Yeah I treat everything as potentially compromised now. It's tough and not fun at all to distrust everything, but I feel like no public information is on its own actionable anymore. I've felt like this ever since 2005, but it's gotten worse and the alternatives have greatly diminished in quality too. There were much better private intel services back then than what we've had this last half decade, as smaller scale and high attention to detail has been pretty much eradicated by big money and ambition.
I guess doing a great job while not being a gazillionaire is not a worthy way to spend one's time anymore.
