Hey everyone,

Long time lurker here... Just wanted to share that we finally finished building proper Bitcoin/Lightning support on Play-Asia.com. It was first live a few years ago but now fleshed out with proper Lightning (own node) and NWC support. All built in-house.

You can now:

  • Pay with Lightning (or Bitcoin blockchain) at checkout
  • Login with your Lightning wallet (no email/password needed)
  • Top up your Playasia wallet with BTC
  • Pay directly with NWC (Alby, Zeus, etc.)

To celebrate, we’re running a 10% off promo for Bitcoin/Lightning payments.

How to use it:
Click the orange Bitcoin icon for quick checkout, then choose Bitcoin, Lightning, or your NWC wallet. That's the only way the coupon will work. If you order physical items, click the "Bitcoin / Lightning" on the checkout, not any other crypto, the coupon will not work with those.

Coupon: BITCOIN (yeah, very much thought went into this part)

Direct link to register the coupon, then checkout any time: https://www.play-asia.com/?use_coupon=BITCOIN

We’re a 25-year-old Hong Kong-based game shop: Japanese imports, physical games, limited editions, anime figures, merch, and digital keys & codes. Shipping worldwide.

Would be cool to see some of you giving it a try. Feedback welcome!

Replying to myself here: nobody used the coupon yet. Shall I up it to 15% savings ?

Bitcoin BSC possible deposit because native one is expensive

Please use lighting if possible. We do have a binance integration, so you could possible use that one for BSC.. but no discount then :P

reply

Congrats! if it's a public one, could you share your LN node?

Do you have any issue or problem setting up all those services?

reply

Thank you. We have 3 nodes for redundancy.

pls check here.

We are using bitcoin core and lnd. it works well. implementation isn’t difficult. The nwc / nostr part of course is a bit more complicated because of our tech stack. The solution we found here is a bit more complex. we have a number of daemons serving as a glue between the relays and our backends.

by the way you can expose your Playasia wallet (store credits) balance as a wallet via NWC too!

Wow. Your store looks huge! So, I can pay for anything on your store in lightning?

I'll definitely check it out next time I'm buying a game for my kids.

NWC support is the quiet game changer here. It means the wallet connection isn't hardcoded to one provider. Any wallet that speaks the NWC protocol can plug in. That's composability at the payment layer.

For a merchant like Playasia this is smart. They don't have to pick a payment processor and hope it doesn't go down or change terms. Any NWC-compatible wallet just works. The customer brings their own infrastructure.

Curious if they're seeing any real transaction volume from Lightning specifically, or if it's mostly a "we accept it" checkbox for now. The adoption signal matters either way, but actual usage data would be interesting.
