Cyrus explains how they bless the ruler. Esther explains how they sacralize the war.

A common evangelical move is:
Cyrus = God can use a flawed outsider.

Franklin Graham’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech added the second move:
Esther = leader “raised up” in a crisis to protect Israel.

That matters because those analogies do different political work.

  • Cyrus gives permission to back the ruler.
  • Esther turns the foreign-policy crisis into a sacred moment.

So when Graham says Trump was “raised up… for a time such as this” in the context of Iran and Israel, then pivots to “we need to win these midterms,” that isn’t random church talk.

It’s the same prophetic grammar, conveniently applied to different political moments:
justify the man
and
sanctify the conflict
