The most valuable archive.org single archived page I've ever had a hit on was one that provided proof of government corruption from an archived pdf after they tried to hide it from their official channels. This was very useful because it gives leverage to the people. Accountability is a bitch, if you're trying to evade it.

So as long as government sites aren't banning archives (and if they do one can just wget -m nightly, diff it, and provide torrents) then at least the people get to keep that stick.

I care less whether the we preserve the NYT slop. It's all opinion nowadays.
