Went into today with a slightly different approach.
Instead of trying to force Bitcoin everywhere, I tried leaning into the suggestions—like checking btcmap and looking for places or workarounds that actually support it.
Didn’t find anything super close to me that I could just walk into and pay with Bitcoin. That part’s still… kinda disappointing.
But I did find something else.
Gift cards.
Tried using Bitcoin to buy a voucher online (basically converting without feeling like I converted), and it actually worked. Got the code almost instantly.
Used it right after, and for the first time this didn’t feel like a complete struggle.
It’s still indirect though. Like I’m not really “paying with Bitcoin”… I’m just taking a detour.
Also tried using a Lightning wallet for a small payment just to see how it feels.
That part was surprisingly smooth. Scan → pay → done. Almost no waiting, barely any fee. That’s the first time this felt close to normal.
But again… only works where it’s accepted.
So Day 2 feels like this weird middle ground.
It’s not as bad as Day 1. There are ways to make it work.
But it’s also not seamless. You either:
- find specific places
- or use workarounds
Still, small win today.
At least now it feels less like “this is impossible” and more like “this works… but with conditions.”
Let’s see if I can push it further tomorrow.
