LLMs are smart,1 no doubt about it. But they lack wisdom, deliberation, and care. The right amount of care. The thing that can’t be put into an algorithm. The thing that isn’t a statistical average. The thing that makes us human.

Definitely agree with him on the lack of wisdom. I don't think I'm going to listen to the 50 hr podcast though (although, I am intrigued by 50 hours of anything).

(Edit: just looked at one of the videos: philosopher guy has no less than four Spinoza books on the shelf behind him, so we know we are in for a chewy time. Jeeves would be proud).

(Edit 2: I counted again: 7 spinoza books)

taste -> care -> wisdom -> bodies -> childhood -> mortality. the goalposts will keep getting shifted. it's all a sandcastle until the next tide comes.

the most disconcerting thing about sloppypasta isn't that bots can't care, it's that humans don't want to; the thing preventing people from assaulting our attention was the lack of a button to do it; at least the bots don't know any better is what we'll say as we thank them for replacing all the humans that never cared in the first place.
