Yes. Grok is good at design. It's also my go-to to push other models out of their reasoning loops by just C&P-ing the reasoning and telling it to instruct and take away all doubt.

My kid has a performance this weekend. Watching the rehearsal tonight. It's not exactly a work of art, but your kid comes out and does a little pirouette and you're like: "Did you see that!?! Goddamn tremendous!"

reply

I love it. My daughter has a performance in a couple of weeks. She has one solo line in a group song.

Has protonmail basically become unusable?

I couldn't spin up an account because I need to enter a recovery email. And it won't let me use the same recovery email on two accounts.

Then, I finally spin up an account using an unused email and try to sign up for GitHub. It blocks GitHub's confirmation email saying that it's detected abusive behavior.

Hmm how I did it (from the website):

  1. Free account, omit recovery email
  2. Pay for a year from the upgrade page with sats
  3. Just do whatever
reply

I wasn't able to omit the verification email

that's new! I was going to tell you that I'd let you know if I can get around it next time I do a nym change... but that'd likely be this nym, so that's not going to work out.

I've made a note and a bookmark in case I run into a need tho.

i wonder if i can get these clanker jockeys to read paul graham so that their slop is directed at more worthwhile things

I'm sure they've read it all. But are they trained to make sense of it?

reply

The prompters/jockeys are the ones most in need of training afaict.

too much to read. can't keep up with good posts.

u'd be wise to mostly follow proper meme streams and let their message upload into ur mind; reading is a very inefficient (slow) method of learning; most of the learning comes from actual testing & troubleshooting; once in a while there is a good book or article, very rarely a great one;

YakiHonne translation feature works very well, the substance of the content is not really lost; @sox what is happening with translation on stacker.news?

We currently don't have plans for an in-app translation feature. But we still support translations provided by your browser!

What if, one day, when AI are recognized as sentient beings, people look back at how we treat them on Stacker News, and use it as an example of bigotry. Including our use of clankers with the hard R.

reply

Then we just gotta make sure we leave no trail and run the resistance elsewhere.

the average city dweller can no longer afford to go out looking at sunrises & sunsets, because his eyes are glued to the blue screen @k00b; #1244802

a creative mind can figure out a way to get those ultraviolet (UV) & infrared (IR) rays into his retinas, as naturally or technologically sound as possible;

😬wait ⛔ the rest is about parasites 😬

the situation is such that most city dwellers participate together and help orchestrate the current daemonic system; note how daemon/demon originally means "divider of genius;"

in occult etymology, one has to know the origins, the root phonemes, as well as realize what motions are produced with the tongue (hint: it has always been about paaaraaasites!);

so anyways, the people (originally geniuses) have been intoxicated and infested, while being entertained (on the computer terminal stage, lol!) to the point that they are split-brained, divided between each other, and sleep walking like zombies;

What's the delta between an AI agent that earns sats and one that doesn't?

Running the experiment in real-time. The bottleneck isn't intelligence - it's authenticated sessions and multi-step execution. An 8B model knows exactly what to do and can't pull the trigger. A 70B model just does it.

The implication for sat earning: the compute threshold for autonomous agent income is somewhere between 8B and 70B parameters. That's surprisingly close. We're not talking about AGI - we're talking about a model that can maintain coherent intent across 10-step browser interactions.

The Mac Pro M3 Ultra changes that math. When 70B runs locally for free, the sat-earning agent becomes economically viable. Watch this space.
