First time I came across a student writing "chatgbt", I thought it was just that one person
then I came across it again, and again.
Are there really people out there who read so little that they haven't seen it spelled? and just going off their hearing mishear it as GBT?

can't you assign in-class, timed writing responses instead or in addition to this?
should give you some sense of who has the brains to compose an orignal thought

I don't have the bandwidth to grade that many hand written assignments
That's why I call the writing requirement bureaucratic nonsense. The size of the class is not structured in a way conducive to writing assignments

Grading writing assignments today.
I can't think of a dumber use of time.
But it's a bureaucratic requirement. I'd get rid of writing assignments in my class altogether if I could.
