Facing a network disruption for my mobile phone carrier now.

It has already been 2.5 hours.

Typing this using the free Wifi at McDonald’s because I wanna hold on to my cowboy hat.

Baller move

I could go a long time without internet. We never paid for internet on our cruises and it was always a nice break.

reply

900 day hat how?

reply

Haven't been on a cruise in the past 900 days

reply

Patiently waiting for you to take your next cruise so I can finally take your top spot!

I lost my streak due to a trip to a remote village in Alaska.

reply

I didn't know that. Where did you go?

reply

Yakutat, AK

Known for having great fishing!

The place I was staying had no cell service or WIFI. So I lost my cowboy hat steak

reply

That is remote. Someday, we're going to take one of those Inside Passage cruises.

I could go quite a bit without fast internet.

But no email or messaging? Even a day can be hard, because I have businesses to look after.

reply

nothing comes between me and my cowboy hat

50 more days to a year!

reply

You’ll have to fly to Austin to pick up your giant foam cowboy hat

If my life/work was the same, a few hours. As is, when I lose internet now I immediately begin traveling/planning to get internet again.

If I had a big enough library or access to one, and my work wasn’t computer based, I’d probably be okay going several days without.

reply

I think I would be like you today if I wasn’t with my children.

still, it was nice to be forced to go without the internet for about 3.5 hours. I should do that to myself more often

reply

If I lose my active streaks on SN and Duolingo I could go a few days maybe a week.

I would read more books and play more video games to pass the time

reply

what language are you learning in Duolingo

reply

Spanish

reply

If I didn't have internet at home, i'd probably end up going at least once a day to a local cafe or the library to get internet and stay on top of various responsibilities.

reply

who usually takes care of the children in your family?

reply

we both share in some of the responsibilities

reply

I can go about 9 minutes without internet. I want to be sure to know when the next bitcoin block is found

reply

you monitor every 9 minutes?

Starbucks also has good wifi at least in CA

update:

Cambridge researchers said 72% to 92% of inter-country subsea cables must fail before over 10% of Bitcoin nodes disconnect.
The study found targeted attacks on cable chokepoints are far more effective, with a 0.05 to 0.20 critical failure threshold.
Researchers reported near-zero correlation between cable fault events and bitcoin price, with a coefficient of −0.02.

I usually last 2-3 minutes.

Without internet, which means no octopus Hentai, I'd last indefinitely.

Forget the context and read this again for a smile. What an interesting time we live in.

I could go for long periods of time (weeks) without internet before running a LN node. Now I'd prefer to have it on for at least a few hours a day.

reply

I can adapt and remove internet from my daily activities if I am forced to do so
In normal case I can turn off for at least 4 hours.
Peace

If I really think about it, I don't need it and can go without it for quite a while; I'm working on keeping my own libraries offline. Now, when it comes to work, I need it a lot.
