Like the Luddites of two centuries ago, pundits tell us to fear AI because it might put people out of work and create mass unemployment. But AI is not a threat to our jobs, unlike the regulation the government unleashes ostensibly to control AI.

Technology does obsolete jobs but this is progress. Transitions are often rough but this isn't really the argument people are having. The common one is the absurdity of massive unemployment which is coming from a flawed understanding of economics. Humans always find new problems to work on and many technology create new problems while solving others.

This is on top of the obvious over-hype around AI. Just like politicians, it's amazing to me how often people beleive liars like the promoters / AI salesmen.

Yeah, I wish the title had been more accurate: Robots might take your specific job, but only politicians can take all your potential jobs.
