The children’s book Bitcoin Money: A Tale of Bitville Discovering Good Money by Michael Caras (with illustrations by Marina Yakubivska) is honestly one of the easiest ways to explain Bitcoin that I’ve seen.
The story happen in a small place called Bitville where kids are busy making different things—cookies, drawings, tools, all sorts, just like how kids live in most of the communities. Then they try to trading with each other. But you know how barter can be… sometimes you want bread but the other person only wants something you don’t have. So the kids start experimenting with different kinds of money.
As the story moves along, you slowly see why some forms of money work better than others. It doesn’t feel like a lecture or some economics class. It’s just a simple story, but by the by time Bitcoin appear in the book, you already understand why good money matters.
What I liked most is how relaxed and natural the explanation is. The book don’t try to be too technical. It just showing the problem first, then the solution comes later. Even if someone knows nothing about Bitcoin, they can follows the story without stress.
The illustrations is bright and playful too, so kids will enjoyed it. But honestly, even adults who is new to Bitcoin can learning something from it. It’s the kind of book you can gives to your family, your friends, or even read with children when you’re trying to explain what Bitcoin is all about.
Overall, it’s a small book, very simple, but powerful. Sometimes the best way to understanding a big idea is through a small story.
If you’re trying to orange-pill someone—especially kids—this one does the job nicely.
