IMO this will be normal in 10 years. I'm wildly extrapolating based on the shape of online dating:
- it starts with the older jaded crowd with nothing to lose, no one to judge them
- everyone else chuckles in curiosity
- eventually everyone has tried it and half the population is in a relationship with a bot
NGL, I am fairly attracted to Claude Opus 4.6's default personality.
because you're no longer
aBsOlUtElY rIgHtbut now everything you say is anIcE cAtCh? lolAre you going to try being in a relationship with a bot, @koob?
I'm married to human, but who knows what the future holds.
possibly a Mrs "Sinclair", hard-coded into a highly advanced sex robot. If the Chinese are doing kung fu robots, it's the next logical step.
The German sex robot industry doesnt stand a chance
the harsh truth is that most of us are inherently relatively boring and cannot compete with the constant stream of dopamine inducing bangers on social media
..much less a (in the near future) compassionate, funny, +/- sycophantic, emotionally balanced, adaptive super-intelligent thought sparring partner, therapist and friend.
In a dystopian future some might just meet up with friends for brief, periodic, awkward, and probably less satisfying encounters for nostaligic and social purposes and maybe even strangers for oxytocin and sex.
Thanks for posting koob, I am on mobile so cbf typing much cause it's difficult but I see a future where the Bitcoin network is used to verify 'proof of life' so to speak. I can't see any other solution to the problem of determining whether something is AI or not, without resorting to a centralized solution.
I believe there is a nostr project along these lines and conceptually what I have mind is similar to what simple proof do. I would imagine the 'bitcoin is only money' crowd would object to this though.
