IMO it's because there's a margin and a distribution for everything.

My guess is that young women are seeing the emptiness of third wave feminism, which overemphasizes career and power, and inappropriately looks down on traditional feminine virtues, like motherhood and child-rearing. As more of them swing the other way, you also get more of them adopting the more extreme versions of traditionalism.
