That's a valid point and possibly part of his thinking. I believe he has 2 years left on his deal. I think he would have waived it if he was an impending FA. But 2 more years paying NY taxes could get expensive.

He is from Alberta. Maybe he is a separatist and wants to stay as far away from the Canadian border as possible.
