Babe, wake up, new pg essay drop
I've only had time to read a few paragraphs. He uses watchmaking's golden age and its transition to branding as the differentiator because software is experiencing a similar transition due to AI. When all problems are solved, and their solutions are available to everyone, brand is the reason people buy one product over another.
He's not arguing software companies should focus on brand though. Selling something on brand is resting on your laurels. During a brand age, your laurels are everyone else's. He argues you should find new problems and solve them. That's where the next golden age will be.
I'll finish reading it later today and share any new thoughts if I have them.
