Cake Wallet has announced the integration of Lightning Network into its mobile wallet, bringing support for Bitcoin’s layer 2 with a focus on self-custody and privacy. The update allows users to make instant payments without managing a Lightning node.

The integration is powered by Breez SDK and Spark. Cake Wallet has developed a custom implementation of the Spark suite, with the specific goal of strengthening user privacy. As stated by the company: “Lightning transactions in Cake Wallet do not embed the Spark address in Lightning invoices, and transaction data is not published to public explorers by default. Visibility is intentionally limited, reducing unnecessary exposure of user activity and protecting their privacy.”
